Minutes of August 2018 Meeting of the New Haven Town Board

The August 2018 meeting of the New Haven Town Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Town Hall by Chairman Tory Wolfram.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the Clerk noted that notice of the meeting had been posted in three public places and sent electronically to those having requested such form of notice.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved on a motion by Supervisor Adam Watson and second by Supervisor Bill Ebert.
Treasurer Conny Crothers presented the monthly financial report which was approved on a motion by Bill and second by Adam.
The Chairman invited all in attendance to ask pertinent questions and make appropriate comments during the meeting.
Replacement of the aging Town Hall roof was discussed and the Clerk is to prepare a bid notice and bids shall specify gauge of steel and type of fasteners.
It was agreed to have Scott Babcock do the necessary ditch work on Golden Avenue on a time and materials basis and someone will be contacted regarding culvert replacements.
Representatives from the Wisconsin Dells School District were in attendance to provide information about the upcoming High School Referendum.  Superintendent Terry Slack stated that the new High School total cost would be $60,885,000.00 and further stated that of that total, the Premier Resort Tax would pay $23,500,000.00.  Land for the site has been donated with a value of $3,200,000 by Todd Nelson Jr. and $500,000 has been donated by the family of former Lieutenant Governor Jack Olson.  The referendum is to allow the School District to borrow the remainder of the cost in the amount of $33,685,000.  This would result in an increase in the tax levy in the amount of $.86 per thousand on all taxable property within the district.  Residents asked several questions of Mr. Slack and other members of the School Board and Administration, all of which were answered.
Bill moved and Adam seconded to approve the request of Jason Lindner to rezone the property so that his home could be sold and to approve the corresponding plat map.  Motion carried.
Scott Construction will be working on road projects including repairs to 4th south from 23.  Tory will be working with Mr. Payne and Mr. Bukowsky regarding the drainage issues on their adjoining properties.
Bill moved and Adam seconded to approve all bills as presented by the Clerk.  Motion carried.
The next regular meeting of the Board will be August 20th at 7:00 p.m.
Adam moved and Bill seconded for adjournment and Tory declared the meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Kenneth Crothers, Town Clerk
