TB minutes 1-19-23

Town of New Haven, Adams County, WI
Minutes of January 19, 2023 Town Board Meeting

The January meeting of the New Haven Town Board was called to order by Chairman Tory
Wolfram at 7:06 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Town Hall.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the Clerk noted that proper notice of the meeting had
been given.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with a motion by Supervisor Adam
Watson and second by Supervisor Bill Ebert. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented and reviewed and approved for filing with a motion by
Bill, second by Adam. Motion carried.
The request to vacate a 33 ft wide easement from 1 st Drive to the shore of Lake Mason was
considered. The Town does not own the property, it is simply a right of way to access the lake
shore. While it was used many years ago, it is no longer usable in its current state. Were the
right of way to be vacated, the two adjacent property owners would each a strip of land one
rod wide. To vacate the easement would require the same process as the vacation of any other
right of way, approval from the DNR, and the necessary hearings to accomplish the goal. A cost
agreement could be required of the petitioner to reimburse the legal costs incurred by the
Town.
Bill moved that since the Town would gain nothing and lose the access should it ever again be
needed that the request be denied. Adam seconded the motion and the motion carried by a
vote of two in favor and one opposed. Voting in favor were Supervisors Ebert and Watson.
Adam moved and Bill seconded to reduce the number of poll workers for the February primary
to three workers per shift. Motion carried.
Bill reported that he had replaced some address number signs and a stop sign at the corner of
First Lane and Gale Drive. The Clerk presented a paper which if signed, would allow the Adams
Columbia Electric Co-op to perform service to their equipment without first obtaining a permit
for the calendar year. All signed the document which will be returned to them. County
Supervisor Jay Churco presented his report of County Board activities which include major
revisions to the County Zoning Ordinance.
Invoices presented to the Clerk for the month were approved for payment with a motion by Bill
and second by Adam. Motion carried.
The next regular meeting will be held on February 16 th at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Adam moved and Bill seconded for adjournment and the Chairman declared the meeting
adjourned at 7:48 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Ken Crothers, Clerk
