TB minutes 2-15-24
Minutes of February 15, 2024 Town Board Meeting
The February 2024 meeting of the New Haven Town Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at
the Town Hall by Supervisor Adam Watson. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the Clerk
noted that proper notice of the meeting had been given. In attendance, in addition to the
board, were Leslie Simdon, Robert Sand, Gage Klicko, and Bill Ebert.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with a motion by Supervisor Jason
Musiedlak and second by Adam.
The Treasurer’s report was presented and approved for filing with a motion by Jason, second by
Adam.
There was no old business pending and the first item of new business were reports on the
progress of brushing and tree cutting. Adam and Jason are pleased with how it is going. No
more tree cutting will be done as the funds to do it are now used up. The boom mower cutting
of brush will continue in order to prevent the brush from growing into trees which are much
more costly to remove. Robert Sand said he realizes that the work needed to be done but
thought that more notice could have been given to landowners. It was explained that it is the
Town’s responsibility to maintain the right of way to the best of its ability and such activities
were part of that and should be expected when needed. Mr. Sand also questioned why the
snowplow came from the west on Gillette Drive and then did not go the other way to
completely do both lanes rather than waiting to complete the other lane later. It was explained
that it is not usually in the best interest of the Town to “micromanage” snow plowing
operations. Leslie Simdon expressed dissatisfaction with the tree cutting, noted that the plow
usually leaves at least an inch of snow when plowing, and that damage to the road had been
done during recent tree cutting operations. It was explained that plow blades wear faster when
in direct contact with the blacktop and that such contact can really damage the road in certain
conditions.
Road Superintendent Bill Ebert would like the Board to consider hiring Gage Klicko to be his
assistant for road patching. This will be on the agenda for the March meeting. Mr. Klicko would
like the Board to put the ditch mowing out for bids as he would like to be considered for that
job. That will also be on the agenda for the next meeting.
Jason moved and Adam seconded to pay all invoices presented to the Clerk.
Items for the agenda of the next meeting shall include hiring an assistant for the Road
Superintendent and bidding of road mowing for the year.
The next regular meeting shall be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall on Thursday the 21st of
March, 2024
Jason moved and Adam seconded for adjournment and the meeting was declared adjourned at
7:38 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Ken Crothers, Town Clerk
